Decided to 'chase the sun' in 2016, taking a tarpaulin and sleeping bag to camp wherever I crashed out. Convinced I would not make it, reserved a pitch on the Haven campsite for £30. I had planned to attempt the cycle back from whichever furthest point I would reach.

Bagged a £15 ticket with bike reservation from Bristol to London for 2pm Sunday -just in case-, leaving just 30 miles from Burnham to Bristol and 55 miles from Paddington to Minster.
Glad I did as 2016 was a freezing British summer and when I woke at 3am on the camping decided to turn off the alarm and sleep in for the train back.

Bring on 2017, two days of 30º (London), no excuse now that it is too cold. Despite some banter on facebook about cycling back, just me Sunday morning 04.53am across Reeds Arms, arriving in Minster at 21.20pm, three minutes past sunset.

Failed again in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 with varying results and declining fitness, but it can be done.
